PosAm Full-stack Academy offers young people the possibility to acquire not only complex theoretical but also practical knowledge of enterprise solution development. The academy focuses on modern JavaScript front-end development connected to cloud-scale Java back-end solutions. In contrast to theoretical courses, the framework of PosAm Full-stack Academy offers the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in e-learnings in the implementation of an actual project covering all the addressed topics.

As indicated in the name, its scope was, indeed, broad, beginning with development (Scrum, JIRA, GIT) through various application frameworks (REST, Spring, JPA/Hibernate, Angular 2), scripting languages (Advanced JavaScript/Typescript), design proposal (OOAD – UC, CD, SD, TDD, DDD) and implementation of the applications themselves (Java best practices, Responsive design). The education programme took the form of lectures, workshops, and work on practical tasks.

A dozen young people responded to PosAm’s call in February. They were provided the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge, a scholarship and a job offer at PosAm. In the end, five of the finalists successfully tackled this demanding process in its entirety. It is particularly positive that the brightest ones are to join PosAm and contribute their innovative ideas to successfully implement ambitious software projects.

The winner was Michal Mrva. The jury was impressed by his overall approach and the quality of his final project. As pointed out by Peter Hladký, the executive director of software development at PosAm, “Michal was the best prepared candidate already during the course at the Academy, and it was clear that he spent the largest proportion of time and effort to prepare himself. His approach and previous experience helped him to handle necessary technologies and implement the broadest scope of the appointed tasks in his final project“.

Michal’s motivation to apply to the Academy was the words of Marián Marek, chief executive of PosAm, in an interview with the internet portal Trend.sk. When asked what distinguishes average IT professionals from top-class ones: “An average IT professional is a programmer, an administrator, or a project manager. We need people who, in terms of their mental capacity, have a substantially broader scope.“ And what does Michal appreciate most about the Academy? “It is an excellent form of education that confirms what I already know, shows what I do not know, and reveals the necessary know-how.“

With panellists Richard Richter, a developer at Evolveum, and Vladimír Hlaváček, a technology architect at Accenture Advanced Technology Center, we discussed programming procedures that help use Domain-Driven Design at the source code level. The discussion […]

The Dionýz Ilkovič Award 2019 went to a physics and astronomy teacher from Trenčín

Their work does not end with the school bell Not only the CDI finalist, but all of the nominated teachers have one characteristic in common: for them, the classes definitely do not end with the school bell. They see their job as a mission and educate and prepare students for domestic and international competitions outside of regular classes. “All of these teachers deserve enormous appreciation. This year, we agreed on the three finalists quickly, but selecting only one of them was very difficult. Each of them could be the absolute […]

High-quality platform for talented pupils, students and their teachers

The prize will be in the hands of the Dionýz Ilkovič Foundation For the past two years the Dionýz Ilkovič Prize was a project of PosAm, a Slovak technological company. However, starting from 2019 the organization and development role will be assumed by the Dionýz Ilkovič Foundation.  Its aim is to reward and motivate outstanding teachers but also to emphasize the need for high-quality preparation of students. Marián Marek, the CEO of PosAm and the promoter of the establishment of the Foundation, is inviting everybody who would like to help […]
